WASHINGTON (February 13, 2020) – The National Confectioners Association announced this week that it is opening a CBD Gallery at the 2020 Sweets & Snacks Expo. The new CBD Gallery will provide a curated space to share critical information with professionals throughout the confectionery and snack supply chain about the legal, regulatory and retail environment for hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD).
“Our goal is to educate the candy and snack industries about the legal and regulatory complexities of CBD and provide context for the business opportunities associated with this major disruption, as well as distinguish the market for CBD-infused products from traditional chocolate, candy and snacks,” John Downs, president & CEO of the National Confectioners Association, said. “Given that 60 percent of edible CBD products on the market today use chocolate and candy as delivery methods, it is essential that NCA emerge as the thoughtful, leading voice on this issue so our retailer partners understand this is a totally different category and usage occasion.”
The CBD Gallery will feature live education sessions, as well as exhibit space for a variety of highly-regarded vendors – from ingredient suppliers to legal counsel to testing labs and finished products containing hemp-derived CBD. It will be housed adjacent to but separate from the main Sweets & Snacks Expo show floor with its own entrance and security and will run concurrently with the show, from May 19-21. All qualified Sweets & Snacks Expo attendees will be permitted to visit the CBD Gallery.
CBD Gallery exhibitors may bring products for display only, and sampling of products and marijuana-derived products will be strictly prohibited.
More information on the CBD Gallery, including information on exhibiting, can be found at SweetsAndSnacks.com/CBD.
