Masked and Ready to Go!

Before you head to Indianapolis for the 2021 Sweets & Snacks Expo or any destination, it is important to understand and prepare for the requirements to keep you and others around you safe. While the country continues to trend in a positive direction related to the pandemic, some of our safety measures will still need to stay in place.

According to the CDC, masks should be worn in addition to staying at least 6 feet apart, especially if indoors around people who don’t live with you. While the recent news about no longer needing a mask outside if you are vaccinated is encouraging, masks will remain mandatory while attending the Sweets & Snacks Expo.

Show management, the city of Indianapolis and the Indiana Convention Center (ICC) have developed a set of safety protocols designed to keep everyone safe and healthy while the confectionery and snack industries get back to business. Along with masking and daily temperature checks, the City of Indianapolis has invested $7 million in convention center upgrades since March 2020, including installing hospital-grade air filtration, touchless doors, Clorox 360 sanitation, hand sanitizer stations, safe concessions and dining areas.

Recently, John Downs, president and CEO of the National Confectioners Association, joined Paul Chibe, CEO of Ferrero North America and Chairman of the National Confectioners Association, to share how excited the industry is to debut the new products and innovations at the 2021 show.

As we all look to the future and prepare for exciting events that are now coming back due to the strides we have made against this pandemic, we recommend planning ahead by making sure you have plenty of masks to use throughout the week, packing proper sanitation tools like wipes or hand sanitizer and understanding how social distancing and temperature checks may make the show feel slightly different from in past years.

We look forward to seeing you in Indianapolis!
